Press Release: Snapchat Incident

March 23, 2018

The Ashland City School District’s number one priority is maintaining a safe environment for our students and staff.  When we learned of a situation involving a potential threat of violence, we took swift action, working closely with law enforcement to investigate and implement safety procedures.

The Ashland City School District wants to thank the community, parents, and staff for their efforts and understanding in keeping their children and our students’ safe at school and allowing the district to operate normal school functions on Friday, March 23, 2018, without incident.  We certainly respect the right of parents to keep their children at home.  We look forward to Monday and returning to a regular school day schedule.

Specifically, we want to thank each and every police officer who was on duty and who greeted our students and staff professionally and politely.  Their professional behavior and presence lessened everyone’s anxiety this morning.

Most certainly, we want to thank Mayor Matt Miller and Chief David Marcelli for their support, and the resources assigned to keep our schools and students safe.  Their willingness to provide additional staff was invaluable.
